MEET THE TEAM

The Collective is comprised of an experienced and talented team of nail technicians, estheticians, makeup artists and hair stylists that specialize in various modern approaches to cut, colour, and styling techniques.

THE COLLECTIVE

Brittany’s hair career began at the age of 18 at Hennessy Salons where she worked the front desk with Loni, assisted the stylists and eventually went on to become an assistant manager.

Brittany graduated from Blanche Macdonald in 2008 and had a dream of opening her own salon. In 2019, that dream came true when she and Loni opened Collective Beauty Studio; a space where various trades in the industry could come together to support and inspire each other.

Brittany’s passion is lived-in colour, extensions, and styling. She is extremely proud of Collective’s involvement in the community and their extensive volunteer work with Wigs for Kids BC.

When Brittany is not busy behind the chair or managing the shop, she enjoys spending time with her son, traveling and being with her friends and family.

Loni started her career in hair at the age of 18, where she was working the front desk and assisting at Hennessey Salons with Brittany. This role inspired her to pursue hair as a career and Loni completed the VCC hairstyling program in 2005, graduating with honours and placing 1st in the Skills BC student hair color competition.

Loni went on to become an independent stylist for 10 years before opening Collective Beauty Studio with Brittany. She specializes and has taken a special interest in blonding and ethnic hair.

Loni has earned the VCC Alumni award for her contributions in the community and her philanthropic involvement with Wigs for Kids BC. When Loni is not at the salon, she can be found travelling and raising her family in her hometown of Steveston.

Marisa comes to us with 11 years of experience in the beauty industry.

She graduated from the John Casablancas Institute and has continued to further her hair education throughout the years.

Marisa was born and raised in Steveston, as a 4th generation Japanese Stevestonite. When Marisa is not behind the chair, she is busy running around with her two children, Kaya and Nathan.

Chloe has been dedicated to doing hair for the past decade. She began at a young age, doing her friends and family’s hair and completed hair school in 2016.

Chloe is inspired by everything beachy, boho and natural, specializing in custom balayages. Chloe has excellent attention to detail and utilizes the consultation process to successfully determine what is best for you.

She feels extremely grateful for the connections and friendships she has made with her clients over the years and takes great pride in ensuring you feel beautiful from the moment you leave her chair.

Jenny’s hair journey began 15 years ago, which has since allowed her to evolve creatively both personally and professionally.

Jenny is known for her time efficiency as a stylist and her magic with a round brush. While she loves providing tailored cut and colour services, she finds most meaning in her thoughtful conversations and acting as a space holder when clients truly want to feel heard and seen.

Beyond the chair, you can find Jenny by the ocean with her family, writing, or recording for her podcast HighTide.

Sarah has been passionately involved in the hear industry for over 20 years.

Her education includes training through Vidal Sassoon, Sukis, Redken and Aveda. Sarah also has extensive experience in multiple color lines.

When Sarah is not in the salon, you can find her actively involved in the community. She has worked with CHEEMO as a volunteer for Women’s Beauty Night and is currently teaching Brazilian Jiujitsu. Sarah’s mission is to support the empowerment of inner beauty, self love and strength.

Juliana is a talented stylist with a passion for creating stunning hair transformations. Graduating with honors from the prestigious John Casablancas hairdressing program, she has honed her skills in multitonal looks, balayages, and hair smoothing treatments. Clients adore her not just for her exceptional work, but also for her warm and caring personality that shines like the sun.

Outside of the salon, Juliana's love for socializing is evident as she enjoys quality time with her vast circle of friends and extended family. Trust Juliana to not only elevate your look but also make you feel right at home in her chair.

Nykole is a professional beautician, specializing in cosmetic tattooing, makeup artistry and brow laminations and lash lifts.

She graduated from Blanche Macdonald in 2003 and has since been 5 times certified as a cosmetic tattoo artist in microblading, micro shading, eyeliner tattoo, lip blush tattoo and saline removal. She has also taken on the role of educator and shares her expertise in one-on-one private training sessions.

Beauty is Nykole’s passion and her goal is to change lives through her services, keeping her clients at the forefront of what she does.

Jay; or as you may know him, Barber Gotti, is a local Steveston Barber. Jay was introduced to cutting hair at the young age of 14, where he was cutting the hair of his family and friends.

It has been 5 years since Jay decided to pursue his career as a barber full-time. It is his passion and drive that has helped him to be so successful in the industry.

Jay is highly motivated and his attention to detail is unrivaled. Throughout his time in the industry, he continues to grow and learn a variety of new skills such as scalp micropigmentation, business knowledge and personal growth. He loves to take on a challenge and there is nothing too big or too small for him to tackle.

Malva is a talented hairdresser who first discovered her passion for styling during high school, where she completed the hairdressing program. She further refined her skills at VCC, graduating with honors. Specializing in special occasion styling and creating stunning lived-in colors, Malva is known for her dedication to her craft and attention to detail.

Outside of work, Malva loves to travel and spend quality time with her friends, finding inspiration and relaxation in new experiences and social connections.

Meet our junior barber Blake, who brings passion to every cut. With a background from the esteemed college Blanche Macdonald, he understands the importance of attention to detail when it comes to haircuts. For our barbers, cutting hair isn't just another job, it's a passion. Collective Beauty Studio is the ideal work environment , as he loves the beautiful and relaxed atmosphere of Steveston. He genuinely enjoys making people feel good about themselves, which is why he is in love with the craft of barbering. While Blake enjoys cutting all types of hair, he has a particular affinity for skin fades and tapers. Come and experience the passion our barber brings to their craft.

Narmeen brings to the Collective Team 15 years of salon management experience. She is extremely organized and oversees our daily operations at the shop. You will find her in the shop helping out all the clients with kindness and professionalism. When she’s not at the salon, she enjoys travelling with her family and working on her spirituality.

Meet Soliel, our salon coordinator who brings 5 years of experience in the beauty industry. Alongside her full-time role as an Education assistant, where she works tirelessly with kids who have special needs, Soliel dedicates her after-school hours to ensuring the smooth operation at Collective. Her passion for the tattoo culture, coupled with her love for animals and fashion, makes her a well-rounded and intriguing individual.

Soliel's diverse range of interests reflects her unique personality and creates a dynamic presence within the salon environment. With her expertise and dedication, she plays a vital role in keeping clients feel welcome.

Fumi is an exceptional nail technician and a valuable member of the Collective Beauty team. With an impressive 17 years of experience in the beauty industry, Fumi's expertise and passion for her craft shine through in her exceptional work.

Fumi's journey in the beauty industry has taken her around the world, allowing her to gain invaluable experience and expertise in various cultures and nail trends. From Australia to Japan, the United States, and now Vancouver, she has honed her skills while embracing diverse beauty philosophies.

As an Akentz certified instructor since 2014, Fumi not only excels in providing exceptional nail services but also shares her knowledge and trains aspiring nail technicians. Her dedication to her craft and commitment to passing on her skills make her a valuable asset to our team at Collective Beauty.

With a strong affinity for Japanese style and nature, Fumi draws inspiration from these elements in her nail art. Her designs reflect a blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and the beauty found in the natural world. Clients can expect Fumi's work to be both stunning and unique, each design a work of art.

Maya is our talented apprentice, who graduated from the train in trades hairstyling program during her high school years. At Collective Beauty, her primary aim is to ensure every client feels relaxed and welcomed. She thrives in the collaborative team atmosphere and cherishes the opportunity to expand her skills daily. Outside of the salon, Maya's passions include attending concerts, watching hockey games, and engaging in her hobbies of singing and songwriting.
